VIDA BARRON WATERS


INA MILDRED WATERS PRENTICE

Ina Prentice of Alachua passed peacefully from this life Friday, November 08, 2013, at her home near Traxler. lna was born in Alachua on May 15, 1915, the daughter of David S. and Vida B. Waters. She was the middle child with a sister, Edna Fugate and younger brother D.S. Waters, Jr. She was the last surviving member of her family. Ina graduated from Alachua High School with honors. It was the depression years so she took a year off from school to work for Copeland Sausage Co. before continuing her education at Harding College in Searcy, Arkansas. While there she met the love of her life, Charles Klingman Prentice. They were married on Nov. 8th 1937 and enjoyed 69 years together when Klingman passed away on Nov. 23, 2006. She died on the day that would have been their 76th anniversary. There has never been a more loving dedicated wife, mother and friend. She was an example and inspiration to all who knew her. Klingman and Ina had six children, two of whom preceded Ina in death. Sylvia Claire King, August 10, 2013 and Barron Allen Prentice, March 24, 1993. Surviving children are Ronald L. Prentice of Miami, FL, Karen J. Underwood, Paul R. and Clyde S. Prentice all of Alachua. They were blessed with 15 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 1 great great granddaughter living in Alaska, Idaho, Arizona, New York and Florida. A memorial service is scheduled for Saturday, November 16, at 11 am at Santa Fe Hills church of Christ located on US 441 North in Alachua, FL. Please join the family in celebrating the life of a 'Worthy Woman'.

Loca Elizabeth Mcleod 

Loca Elizabeth Mcleod B: 01/06/1916 Daughter of Thomas Waters and Martha Gill Waters. D: 03/20/2010 in Worthington Springs, FL (Mrs. Loca Elizabeth Waters McLeod 94, of, Worthington Springs, passed away peacefully at the Suwannee Haven Hospice in Lake City after a brief illness. She was the daughter of Thomas Waters and Martha Gill Waters. She loved being their for her children, grandchildren family and friends. She was a member of the Worthington Springs Civic club. Providence Pieces Quilting Club and Sassie Sisters Club. And a member of the New Hope Primative Baptist Church in Alachua County. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of years Heywood McLeod and her son Michael McLeod. Chapel of Archer Funeral Home with Elder Thad Marshall and Elder David Crawford officiating. Burial will follow in Elzey Chapel Cemetery under the care of Archer Funeral Home of Lake Butler.


 

Leland Rouse Waters Jr

Leland R. Waters, Jr. 88 of Taylor, Arkansas passed away Tuesday, May 4, 2010 at the Wentworth Place Nursing Center in Magnolia, Arkansas. He was born on July 18, 1921 in Bell, Florida to the late Leland R. Waters, Sr. and Mamie Smith Waters. He was a veteran in the United States Navy serving during World War II, a sixty year member of the American Legion. He graduated in 1947 with a BA from Harding University and earned his MBA in 1950 from the University of Mississippi. Leland was a professor in the Business School at Western Carolina University for thirty seven years in Cullowhee, North Carolina. He was a member of the Church of Christ in Sylva, North Carolina, a hospice volunteer in Jackson County, North Carolina a member of the Barbershop Quartet Organization. He is preceded in death by his parents, his wife Francile Keith Waters, a daughter, Melanie Waters Gifford, a brother, Delano Waters, and sister, Edna Marion Barron. Leland is survived by his three sisters, Clara Bell Petree of San Antonio, Texas, Mary Ellen Swain and Vita Mae Waters both of Alachua, Florida; a brother, H. J. Waters of Gainesville, Florida; two sisters-in-law, Mary K. Jarnagin and Betty K. Russell both of Magnolia; two brothers-in-law, Roy Keith and his wife Sandy of Taylor, Arkansas, Ernest Keith and his wife Betty of Nacogdoches, Texas; and a host of nieces, nephews, colleagues, and friends.
