It read in part "plantation tract...on the north side of the Sumerton Swamp, containing 200 acres...to Richard Green...(in trade ) for a plantation in Chowan County called Sarum, 150 acres which is part of atract formerly taken up and patented by one Katherine Langston. 2~Nancy Ann Langston B: 1750apx D: 1783 Spartanburg County, SC M: John William Bearden Jr B: 03/11/1744 Spotsylvania, VA D: 05/15/1836Flat Creek, Bedford, TN. John was a veteran of the Revolutionary War, and was granted a pension for that service. Tennessee Pension Roll 1835 shows the following "John Bearden, Private, South Carolina Line- $63.38 annual allowance, $148.33 amount received May 17, 1833, pension started at age 79.  Late in life, he came to Flat Creek to join his sons Eli and Billy. Mary Came also. All of them died in Bedford County, Tennessee.

The father of William and Eli Bearden was a Revolutionary soldier from South Carolina. After the war he came to Flat Creek to live with his two sons and their families. He died and is buried in the old graveyard on the hill at Flat Creek.

Daniel Harris's company and in William Eaton's regiment of the Granville County, North Carolina, militia in 1754. He received 150 acres on the Tarr River from his father on Dec. 25, 1760. The Granville County, North Carolina, tax list of 1768 recorded that James had one Negro slave by the name of Dina. About 1820 after James's death, Joannah and most of the family moved over the river into Rabun County, Georgia.

Her cause of Freedom during the Revolutionary War, lead to her Patriotism to the American cause was so great, it earned her the pseudonym 'Daring Dicey'. She provided valuable information to the Whigs and harassed the enemy during the entire war. She was listed as one of The Great Women of the American Revolution.Struggling through the strong current of the Tyger stream in the middle of the night, 15-year-old Dicey Langston raced to warn her brother and his men that the settlement at Little Eden, South Carolina would be attacked by the "Bloody Scouts" at daybreak.The Bloody Scouts were a group of outlawed Tories (British supporters) led by Bill Cunningham. They were known to be ruthless in killing anyone who was part of the rebel cause.
